I made the difficult decision last night to put off my Ocarina of Time Zelda costume, and wait to get it done until after A-Kon.   There have been a couple of setbacks this weekend that will take time to correct.   There's too much left to do in a week and too many compromises have already been made.  If I try to finish it now, it just won't be a good costume, and I want it to be the best it possibly can.   I figure at this point it's better to put it on hold until after the con and not exhaust myself trying to finish a costume that I won't be happy with.

It's heart breaking, but also a big relief.  I won't have to lose my mind and exhaust myself trying to power through it, and I'll be able to do some things I wouldn't have been able to otherwise without such a close deadline.  (Like appliquéing and embroidering the tabard like the original plan was vs. slapping some paint on it because OMG SEVEN DAYS.)    

I'm going to spend the rest of the time before A-Kon fixing some of my old costumes.  I think the new plan is to bring Nayru on Thursday (the Oracle games release in the 3DS eShop that day; EEEEEE!! 8D ), Elli for Friday (there's going to be an Harvest Moon fan meet up that day!) , maybe ALttP Zelda, and probably one of my Riza Hawkeye costumes.  It'll be an enjoyable convention, even without the new costume.

Also, I'm sure some of you may have noticed I changed my username.    Mystic was the very first username I created on a website many years ago, and the "665" after it was a random number assigned to it.   It was never really something I chose, just a username I stuck with because when I was eleven I thought you had to use the same one everywhere, and later too lazy think of anything new.  The "665" spawned some rather hurtful jokes over the years so I've been eager to shed it.  Mystic is already taken here so I though I'd switched to this username. It's the one I use on the Rebel Legion boards, and I figure I'd give it a try elsewhere.  It immediately identifies me as a Star Wars fan, and is also a nod to a character whose costume I've been planning to do for years, one I'll hopefully be beginning this summer.  [link]
